CMAT: new test for MBA

CMAT: new test for MBA
AICTE has announced a new test called the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). Reports reveal that CMAT will be based on the Common Admission Test (CAT).
Features of CMAT
- Online test for 15-20 days
- Based on CAT
- Eligibility criteria to be the same as CAT
- Duration is three hours
- Exam to start from February 10, 2012
- Multiple choice questions on QA, DI, reasoning, GK and language
More information is expected in the week from November 14.
AICTE has made CMAT compulsory for the 4000 institutes under it offering MBAs and another 500 offering postgraduate diplomas in management.
A spokesperson from AICTE declined to comment on the status of MAT and other entrance exams to the press as it is sub judice.
It has been reported that the idea of a single entrance exam has not gone down too well with many b-schools and education associations who have challenged AICTE’s notification of introducing a single entrance exam.
The single entrance exam does not include private b-schools for now. According to a Supreme Court order on July 26, 2011, private b-schools are allowed to continue with using older entrance exams such as XAT, MAT and ATMA for now.
Students who want to enroll into other b-schools from 2013 will now either have to sit for CAT or CMAT.
